Opening Invitation – “Me and My Nature”

On Saturday, 27 September, we will open our new exhibition at the old school in Wartenburg (Kemberg). Together with members of Fabelhafte Wartenburg e.V., the local cultural club, we have invited a wonderful group of artists to explore and share their personal connection with nature through their work.

The result is a rich and diverse collection of artworks: some highly illustrative, others abstract; some direct, others deeply conceptual. Each piece reflects a unique perspective on how nature touches, shapes, and inspires us.

For several years now, the Verein has been organizing an annual exhibition, often showcasing the work of local artists. This year, however, we wanted to open the doors a little wider. Alongside local participants, we are welcoming artists from Germany, the Netherlands, Iceland, the UK, and Norway. By bringing these different voices together, we hope to build bridges: between local and international art scenes, and between amateur and professional practice.

The theme, “Me and My Nature”, is as timeless as it is personal. Artists have been exploring their relationship with nature since the very beginning—think of cave paintings, the harmony of Greek and Roman art, the landscapes of Monet and Van Gogh, and, more recently, the works of contemporary artists such as Tomás Saraceno and Olafur Eliasson.

Now, it is our turn. Through this exhibition, we would like to share with our visitors not just artworks, but moments of reflection: how each of us relates to the natural world, and how that relationship shapes who we are.
