When the Mona Lisa was stolen from the Louvre in 1911, the museum received more visitors then ever before. The same thing happened when ‘The Scream’ was stolen from the National Gallery in Oslo in 1994. The people lined up in front of the empty space that the painting had left behind. Continue Reading →

From the 6th of august till the 7th of september 2014 I spend my time working in Leipzig. Together with Willem Besselink, Pim Palsgraaf, Daan Botlek, Regina Kelaita and Bram Braam, I used an old empty factory building to make site specific works in order to present this during the ‘Tag für Industrie Kultur Leipzig’. Parallel to this presentation we had a small show at Post-Industriale as a teaser for our factory show as well.
Invited by the organisation of the Ampelhaus in Oranienbaum (Germany) I spent four weeks working at this unique location in the small village close to Dessau. This residency period ended with a participation with four of my works in the exhibition ‘Unter zwischen im Ampelhaus’, two new ones and two works that were created last year in Leipzig.
Friday the 27th of june Gallery Frank Taal opened ‘Figure That’. In this group exhibition the gallery reflects on itself by showing all the artists they represent. For this event I was invited to act as a guest artists within the show. I presented new work in the series ‘Remains/Stolen footage (after AA Bronson)’. Continue Reading →
During the Kunstweekend Charlois Jeroen Bosch curated an exhibition called ‘Half empty’. In an old officebuilding in the south of Rotterdam he brought together a group of artists that create work with a high level of abstractness in it. I was invited to be part of this show.
Four pieces of asbestos mounted directly on the wall. Together they make a ode to painters like Piet Mondriaan and Bart van der Leck, a sort of archeology in the collective art memory.
The project ‘If paradise is half as nice 2’ was presented in Berlin a week after the presentation in Leipzig. The location was the exhibition space of Atelierhof Kreuzberg, a completely different surrounding then the original location in Leipzig and therefor a totally other presentation, based on the same works.
‘Asbestos I’ is a work that came to existence during the ‘As paradise is half as nice’ project in Leipzig.
‘Out of the white cube (Remains/Stolen footage)’ is a series of work that came to existence during the ‘As paradise is half as nice’ project in Leipzig. The works are a follow up of previous works that I have made and have the same subtitle.
